We believe that as Christians we are called to put our faith into action by serving the needs of our community and our world. We do so by working through existing community organizations, by going on and supporting mission trips, and by being involved in ministry opportunities and groups here at First Baptist.
Missions Groups and Endeavors

Intergenerational Mission Trip
We offer an annual intergenerational mission trip during the summer. For the past several years we have taken a group to Nada, Kentucky to provide services and support to one of the country’s poorest regions.
Missions and Music
We offer Missions and Music for both preschool and schoolage children on Wednesday nights from September to May. We hope to make our children aware of the many opportunities available for ministry in our community, our country and around the world.
Each year our church participates in Operation Inasmuch, a day of community ministries in and around Winchester, Virginia. Breaking into teams, church members of all ages work on various projects as varied as Habitat for Humanity projects, soup kitchens, making cards for our homebound members, preparing food for a local food closet, doing clothing drives for the migrant workers in our area, and collecting books for the local prisons. Our projects change each year, depending on the needs of our community and the interests of our volunteers. To learn more about the Operation Inasmuch project, go to: operationinasmuch.com

Women on Mission
Women on Mission is a gathering of adult women interested in serving our community and world by helping the church family become involved in missions. The primary work of Women on Mission is to lead the church members to pray for and give to missions, do mission work, learn about missions, develop spiritually toward a mission lifestyle, and participate in the world of the church and the denomination. Youth “Souper” Bowl
THE YOUTH will be hosting the Souper Bowl on Sunday, February 2, after the 11:00am Worship Service in the CEB. We invite you to bring your favorite soup, stew, chili, or chowder to share. This year we will also be holding our “Tongues of Fire” chili cook-off during the meal. Winners will be chosen for the hottest chili and the most flavorful. You may also submit the recipe you will be using by January 13. These recipes will be compiled into booklets and will be available for purchase at the meal. All proceeds will be given to Bread for the World. For more information, contact Rev. Whitesides at the Church Office.
