Music is a an important part of First Baptist’s ministry. We encourage any church members having musical talent to use their gifts to the glory of God.
The Chancel Choir, First Baptist’s most traditional choir meets for practice every Thursday evening at 7:00.The choir is comprised of adult volunteers who graciously give their time and talents. The choir sings every Sunday morning during the 11:00 service September through June. Our Chancel choir also has special performances at special times of the year such as Easter and Christmas.
Singin’ Seniors is perhaps our most lively group practice. They practice on Tuesday mornings at 11:00. Practices are usually followed by a bagged lunch. This group presents a Fall musical each year that is well attended by the congregation and community. The Singin’ Seniors take over the choir loft during July and August while the Chancel choir is on vacation. If you love music, laughter and good food this is the group for you.
The Handbell Choir is growing. We have recently received a gift of three octaves of chimes to correspond with our three octave hand bells. This group meets every Thursday night, 6pm to 7pm and plays in various services.
Our Praise Chorus may be small in numbers but their love of the Lord makes them mighty. They meet to practice each Sunday at 8:00am just before the Early Worship Service.
We encourage you to use your musical gifts to the glory of God. Each Sunday we feature special music as part of our worship and we welcome soloists of varied styles, from classical instrumentals and contemporary vocalists to those with bluegrass roots.
Music isn’t limited to the adults at First Baptist Church. Our Schoolage Choir is open to children in 1st to 5th grade. They practice on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm. Our Preschool Choir is open to children from ages 3 through kindergarten, and practice during the Sunday school hour. We believe that this growing ministry will be the foundation of the children’s music appreciation.
